Responses to Prior Surveys
March/April 2020 — We asked how you expected to spend “free time” resulting from the Covid-19 shutdowns. It sounds like some of us will emerge smart and fit, because the top answers were Read and Exercise. Home Improvement and Reaching out via Skype, Facetime and Zoom were the next highest responses. One respondent is participating in the resurgence of jigsaw puzzles. One very practical person is updating his important directives — and cleaning out his file cabinets. Bravo!

February 2020 — We asked for suggestions of neighborhood events RDA should plan — what kinds of events to attract visitors to our neighborhood and what kinds of events you'd want to attend. Many of you must have been hungry when you responded, because food events were the most popular. Top selections were: Food Truck Rally (75%), A Taste of Rosemary featuring neighborhood restaurants (68% tied) and Block Party with food, music and dancing (68% tied). Write-in responses included: participation in National Night Out; a neighborhood Garage Sale or Antique Festival, and events celebrating our neighborhood's African-American heritage as Overtown.

January 2020 — We asked your priorities for Rosemary District, especially as they relate to RDA Guiding Principles. The top priority can be summarized as: It should be safe and pleasant to walk throughout Rosemary District and to neighboring communities day and night. You want to see more greenery, wider sidewalks, less litter and more public parking. And homelessness is still an issue.

November/December 2019 — Most people were too busy celebrating the holidays to tell us how they were celebrating. But we must include a "shout out" to the person who cruised from India to South Africa and then went on a post-cruise safari.

October 2019 — We asked what time and day of the week Community Meetings should be held. Everyone agreed that weekday evenings were best. There was no clear preference among the suggested times.

September 2019 — The September Survey asked what topics and/or speakers you'd like at future Community Meetings. There were very few responses. Two were traffic-related; that will be the subject at our meeting on November 14. Other suggestions concerned Parking (2), Homelessness (2), Sarasota's Sustainability Program vis-à-vis Climate Change, plans to improve Walkability, Public Art in Rosemary District, and the History of the neighborhood.

August 2019 Survey Responses
The August survey asked what types of business you'd like to see open in Rosemary District. Food-related businesses were at the top of the list. Of 56 individual suggestions, 39 were food and/or beverage related. Restaurants took the top slot, followed by bakeries and prepared foods to go. For the latter, some respondents were very specific, citing Morton's, Piccolo in Gulf Gate and Mazzaro's in St. Pete. A fresh fish market, fresh produce and flower market, brewery, craft distillery and bars with outdoor games finished up the food and beverage category.
There were 4 suggestions for entertainment venues (theater, live music), 10 retailers (boutique, craft shop, florist, gift shop, hardware store, pharmacy and Pandora) and 5 services (Bank of America, dry cleaner, fitness studio, medical offices, tailor/cobbler).
